A Tale of Two...People

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Chase Summers. Chase was a bit on the nerdy side and in middle school, meaning he had few friends and many enemies. He was also terrified of ghosts.

One year on Halloween, some of his classmates make fun of him for his ghost-phobia. Chase, in retaliation, made a bet with them. You see, in his neighborhood, there was a creepy house, falling apart. No one ever entered or left, and strange things happened to anyone who tried to fix it up or tear it down. And so, this was the challenge Chase offered up: if he spent all of Halloween night in that house, his enemies had to leave him alone for the rest of their time in school (including high school).

That was the last anyone saw of him.

Ten years later, an old friend of Chase's--a man named Kenneth White--found liked doing detective-ish work in his spare time. He also found that there was a whole string of disappearances connected to "haunted houses," beginning in the 1950's and growing more frequent as time went on. He decided to investigate himself firsthand.

That was the last anyone saw of him, too.
