So it's almost midnight and no update. I can explain.

For each day as I was introducing characters, I planned to practice my digital art skills by doing a basic picture of the character. Then I'd do a little picture with more action in it in pencil to really hone my drawing skills.

Today, my tablet (which was sort of glitching frequently anyway) completely ceased to function. I can't draw digitally without my tablet.

I started doing the little action-y pictures, but I had sort of already lost my motivation... as the drawings went on and it became apparent that I couldn't draw anything that wasn't completely static, my artwork devolved into horrendously sloppy sketches. I will post up those sloppy sketches for the sake of posting something right now.


I'm pretty sure the plan is "get a new tablet tomorrow..." hopefully I'll have something better to show then. I'm so sorry, everyone.

Prelude, Part 1

This is Hideaki Matsui, but you can call him Hide. He's cool with that. He's cool with everything, really. He's so cool you could keep a side of meat in him for a month. He's too cool for school, and even though he lives in a society where emphasis on academics drives thousands of teens to suicide he's so cool that no one cares he barely manages to pass classes. He has mad electric guitar skills and the voice of an angel, if angels had voices suited to RAWWWWK. All the girls want to have sex with him and all the guys are jealous of his amazing coolness and sex appeal, but if they get to know him they'll become best friends with him in a heartbeat. And then they'll want to have sex with him, because Hide is just that amazing.

Or at least, that's how it is in his fantasy world... in the real world, he falls asleep on the bus to school a lot. His brother, Ryuusei usually twists his arm to get him to wake up.

Today: A Medley Characters

Ayame Wakamoto. She's a pretty ordinary girl finishing up high school. She's insanely calm at all times and loves green tea and the color pink.

Also she is descended from ninjas and in her world Lamarck Was Right. YAY

I've been on a Medley kick recently. Maybe I could start explaining it further on the blog?

Slow Days

This blog is both good and bad. It's good in that it gets me to draw every day. It's bad in that some days I don't want to draw at all. With the drawing class and all, I fell that sticking to what I usually do is sort of hampering my learning. It's not practice anymore because it goes directly against what I'm being taught right now. I could go out and draw landscapes or set up still lifes, but that takes time that I don't really have on days like this.

If I don't update the blog one day, I know it will just go into a downward spiral. If I don't feel like I have to do it, then I won't do it. But drawing something I really don't want to draw that is looking pretty damn awful, I wonder if the blog is really worth it.


I decided it wasn't really worth it, but it's a little quirk ingrained in my system and I'll just have to draw something every day and post it up, even if it is very, very ugly (above).

So sorry you all have to look at crap today. We'll just have to hope that tomorrow is better.

More Art Block Doodles

His name is Gregory Levitt. He's an accomplished archaeologist and historian. He once had his own story, but it was exactly like Indiana Jones so I dropped it.

Maybe I'll re-visit it one day; I like the basic concept and the character designs I did for it.

Sorry this is lower quality than usual; the paper this is on is something like 36x14", I think. Of course my scanner isn't that big so I had to take a picture of it. It's what I did in drawing today!

It's done with oil pastels... and though it's not finished yet, I LOVE how this turned out. I hope you all do, too.
