Today: A Medley Characters

Ayame Wakamoto. She's a pretty ordinary girl finishing up high school. She's insanely calm at all times and loves green tea and the color pink.

Also she is descended from ninjas and in her world Lamarck Was Right. YAY

I've been on a Medley kick recently. Maybe I could start explaining it further on the blog?

Slow Days

This blog is both good and bad. It's good in that it gets me to draw every day. It's bad in that some days I don't want to draw at all. With the drawing class and all, I fell that sticking to what I usually do is sort of hampering my learning. It's not practice anymore because it goes directly against what I'm being taught right now. I could go out and draw landscapes or set up still lifes, but that takes time that I don't really have on days like this.

If I don't update the blog one day, I know it will just go into a downward spiral. If I don't feel like I have to do it, then I won't do it. But drawing something I really don't want to draw that is looking pretty damn awful, I wonder if the blog is really worth it.

I decided it wasn't really worth it, but it's a little quirk ingrained in my system and I'll just have to draw something every day and post it up, even if it is very, very ugly (above).

So sorry you all have to look at crap today. We'll just have to hope that tomorrow is better.

More Art Block Doodles

His name is Gregory Levitt. He's an accomplished archaeologist and historian. He once had his own story, but it was exactly like Indiana Jones so I dropped it.

Maybe I'll re-visit it one day; I like the basic concept and the character designs I did for it.

(by the way, he's trying to read a map in the above pic.)

Napoleon Appears!

A least, a GIANT drawing of a string-version does!

Sorry this is lower quality than usual; the paper this is on is something like 36x14", I think. Of course my scanner isn't that big so I had to take a picture of it. It's what I did in drawing today!

It's done with oil pastels... and though it's not finished yet, I LOVE how this turned out. I hope you all do, too.

Iconnage

I'm really scraping the bottom of the inspiration barrel, here. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day...

But for today, we just have an icon of one of the Project Cataclysm steampunk 'bots.

Smorgasbord

A lot of different drawings today! Some of them aren't particularly good, but at least they're there.

The titular character of Guardian. He looks a little strange and dead-eyed here, but I like the movement in his clothing.

Some expressions for Jeff, who you saw yesterday. From the top, they are "awe," "apathy," and "nerd rage." Jeff is fun to draw.

Lastly, a still life I did for drawing class today. Totally messed up the proportions, so I sort of quit halfway. Oh well, can't win 'em all...

Sub-human

It seems that lately, drawing anything that isn't for art class is a total chore. Argh. Still managed to churn something out tonight... Developing sub-human characters for a fantastic setting.

American
Following WWII, the United States of America experienced a great deal of prosperity and wealth. Life became easier for everyone. People no longer had to work as hard to achieve their dreams. Science fiction writers warned the people of America that consequences for becoming a lazier society could be grave, but they did not listen; in the past fifty years, they have seemingly devolved and become beings of a much simpler biological persuasion.

Although most of them don't realize it, as they never leave their country (and when they do, they never pay attention to how they look compared to the locals of other countires).

This particular American is named Jeffery Waters. He makes geeky independent films.
