Cetacean Week: Day Two

Today: Architecture!

Although the cetaceans can easily breathe underwater, they prefer living in a dryer habitat. It makes it easier to do things like cook and talk and...anything that isn't swimming. They still like living underwater, away from the other races, so that limits their options.

When available, Cetaceans prefer to build homes and cities in underwater caves that contain dry air pockets, pictured above. Their building style tends to look pretty natural; they carve their homes quite literally into the rocks, and if there isn't enough space their engineers can figure out a way to build a stone house that looks like they found it. They've also found ways to siphon oxygen into these little pockets so they don't suffocate.

failing natural air pockets, they'll cut their homes into anything they can find and build "air bubbles" around them. This naturally takes more time, but it works just as well. Above is probably a cheap apartment complex. Nicer ones are built mostly on the same level and have a bubble surrounding the whole thing instead of just each living space.

  1. Isn't a cetecean a whale? I've always been fond of whales. Won't bother you too long, back to playing Leona on repeat...
